Small Scale Herb Production in B.C. Fraser Valley

My family has a small greenhouse (25’x100’) located in B.C.’s Fraser Valley. In the spring we plant hanging baskets and by Mothers Day they are finished and the greenhouse is empty. Granted this isn’t a large scale production, we are looking to grow herbs in the summer/fall months as another way to profit from our little operation. Given that we have a 5 acre farm, we have the means to expand if this becomes lucrative. With that in mind, my question is do you know which herbs would be the most profitable to grow considering the climate and market of our area?

We get asked a lot which herbs are the most profitable to grow. It is difficult to make specific recommendations because there are many factors involved. For example, the marketing is different depending on whether the herbs are culinary or medicinal or aromatic. Fresh-cut culinary herbs puts you in the fresh produce market while dried hebs put you in the bulk botanicals market.

I take it that you want to grow something in the greenhouse during the summer months, or are you thinking of outdoor crops?
