Bay Leaf and Curry

Could you please send us some information on bay leaf? Can this be grown in Canada, and where does it come from?

Also what spices are mixed with curry to turn it hot?

Bay leaf or bay laurel cannot be grown outside in Canada, but it makes a great house plant that does well if the pot is put outdoors during the summer, when our conditions outdoors are similar to those in its Mediterranean home countries.

Since curry contains among other spices, cayenne pepper, garlic, turmeric, coriander seed and ginger, the hotter the chili pepper (cayenne) used the hotter the curry will be. If you were to add Habanero peppers to a mild chili it would turn it very hot – with the amount added determining how hot it becomes.
