Can you give me some information on a plant compound call Amorphophallus konjac?

Amorphophallus konjac is a synonym for a plant now called Amorphophallus rivieri. It is a type of large Jack-in-the-pulpit and has an edible tuber. For this reason the plant is fairly widely cultivated in Indonesia to Japan. What you would get in oriental speciality food shops would be the tubers – either fresh or dried. It is hardy in zones 7 to the tropics.
