Whiteflies on Windowsill Herbs

I have white flies in my windowsill herb garden. Soap does not seem to be working. I am about to plant my spring seeds and don’t want the white fly to infect the new plants. Any ideas as to how I can get rid of them for good?

There are several ways to get rid of white fly. I would suggest pyrethrum soap spray as a first try, but you must reapply it at least once a week since it does not touch the scale like pupal stages. These have to be killed with the next spray after hatching. This is available from Richters in a concentrated form. If your white flies have become resistant to this spray, you can try the rather expensive or hard to obtain alternatives such as Encarsia formosa, a parasitic wasp that kills white flies, which must be reapplied several times before it begins to work.
