Ginkgo in Zone 3

Can you please tell me what zone ginkgo will survive in? We’re in zone 3 and I’m wondering if it would be too cold here in the winter.

Ginkgo is rated as hardy in zones 5 to 9 by some authors and as hardy in zones 3 to 9 by others. I have grown about a hundred plants from seed in zone 5 and found that some were winterkilled while others survived our most difficult winters. I suspect that special clones will make it in your climate, but a lot of them won’t. I would suggest growing them from seed and starting with far more than you need. Winter mulch and remember that any plant takes about 4 years after germinating and/or transplanting to reach its maximum hardiness.
