Must Herbs Be Dried Before Storage?

With oregano and basil, should you dry before you chop it for storage? This is my first time at growing herbs. Also, what about rosemary?

Unless you are adding herbs to food right away, you must dry them before storage, otherwise they will rot. We have posted information on drying herbs previously; please go the Q&A section of our website and search for "drying".

It is always best to avoid chopping either before or after drying. Sometimes it is unavailable, but every time you chop herbs you are losing some of the flavour. It is always best to break up dried herbs at the last moment before adding to food. This is why powdered herbs sold in stores often have weak flavour.
