What is the germination time for sweet annie? My neighbor purchased sweet annie seeds from you and has tons of plants. She gave me seed last fall that I kept in a sandwich bag in the fridge. Will these germinate or have I ruined them? What would be the correct treatment for collected seed?

You treated them just right. The seeds need light to germinate and therefore cannot be covered by more than a sprinkling of sand or soil and then watered in. They usually germinate in 28 -45 days according to our seed germination trials. Do not let them dry out until they plantlets are well established-hard to do when the seed are so close to the surface. You might try covering the row or seedbed with evergreen bows or single sheets of newspaper held down in a teepee shape by rocks to cut down on wind and sun drying.
