Overwintering Hops

I was wondering if you know of some information regarding preparing hops plants for winter exposure. We cut them down to 3 feet high but what about the cold etc... how do we prepare them and what do we use?

The best you can do for them is mulch them with leaves or even bark chips. In the spring add some fertilizer or well-rotted manure around the plants, because the decomposing mulch uses nitrogen and only releases it again when the micro-organisms doing the decomposing, die.
