Will Syrian rue repel cats from our flower and herb gardens? Other than your ‘Piss Off’ plants, are there any other plants you could recommend to repel cats?

‘Syrian rue’ is a dye plant from the Middle East and not related to the temperate climate ‘Rue’, and does not repel cats.

"Rue" has been used as a cat repellent in the past, and a good choice. ‘Piss-off-plant’ has gain a lot of popularity, and is effective. Then, depending on the size of the area you want protected you will need a number of plants. the smell reaches only so far, especially when the plants are still small.

Cats abhor citrusy smells, so you can save and dry cut up orange and lemon peels and scatter them on the ground.
