Vick’s Plant Harvesting

My Vick’s plant is doing very well and is quite big. I want to trim it back and keep the trimmings for future use. I’ve tried drying a few cuttings, but it doesn’t work -- I suspect because it’s a succulent like aloe? I’ve had aloe leaves break off on occasion and have frozen them for future use and it appeared to work quite well.

We have never tried preserving Vicks plant trimmings, so I can only give you some suggestions. For short-term storage just keeping the trimmings in an airy place spread out so they are less likely to rot should work. If you freeze them, you may hve to keep them tightly sealed to prevent the volatile oils from escaping. I suspect that micro-waving or baking on the lowest settings might drive off the oils too so it may not work. But you could certainly try it with a cutting or two.
