Angelica seed, sowing and storing

Hello, I have an angelica plant that I let go to seed. I have tons of seeds. Should I scatter the seeds now or wait till spring? How should I store the seeds?

You can sow your abundant supply of angelica (Angelica archangelica) seeds this Fall or next Spring. The benefit of sowing the seeds now in the Fall is that the winter season will provide the cold exposure that the seeds require for optimal germination. Sow them in the desired site upon nicely loosened soil, and cover them very thinly with soil. They do prefer exposure to light for better germination. Tamp the seeds, and leave to germinate on their own in the Spring. If you prefer to sow them in the Spring, you will need to store them in the fridge until then in a sealed plastic bag of slightly moistened soil-less medium. This treatment is called stratification and it mimics what the winter would provide for the seeds naturally. You can keep your surplus seed stored in a cool, dry and dark place in a paper bag until you need them in the future. But note that angelica seeds have a fairly short shelf life of about two years.
