Inge Poot has a Master of Science degree in botany from the University of Toronto. She also studied medicinal plants at York University, Toronto. She taught high school science and mathematics for five years before going back to school to earn her Master’s degree. She has had a life-long interest in plants and animals and has always maintained extensive plant collections both in the house and in the garden. Inge is an accredited judge of the American Orchid Society and has a 20’ x 30’ greenhouse full of mostly orchids. She also tries to find time to paint and make original portrait porcelain dolls. Inge joined Richters in 1981, working first in the greenhouses and later in the mailorder division, becoming manager as the business grew. She is now semi-retired and works for Richters as a consultant and lecturer to garden clubs. She welcomes questions on growing herb plants.
