Laying Hens and Nutrition Answered by: Kerry Hackett Question from: Suzanne Schille Posted on: December 17, 2005
Could you tell me what the best herbs would be to feed laying hens? I’ve heard alfalfa, comfrey, purslane and flax. Any others?
A variety of the following may be useful: Chickweed (Stellaria media), Alfalfa (Medicago sativa), Red Clover (Trifolium praetense), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Nettle (Urtica dioica), Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus), Apple pulp, Broccoli pieces, Crepis (Crepis capillaris), Cucumber, Lettuce, Mustard Greens, Papaya, Red and Green Peppers, Pumpkin pieces, Seaweeds (Fucus spp.) as well as fruit and vegetable peelings
