Cat and FLUTD Answered by: Kerry Hackett Question from: Lelani Arris Posted on: January 17, 2006
I have a female cat with urinary problems; I believe the condition is called FUTD? - not life threatening at the moment but still uncomfortable. I’d be interested in your thoughts (and form/dosages), thank you!
FLUTD or Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease usually means that your cat has the beginning of or in fact has urinary tract stones. This means that you have discovered blood in your cat’s urine, your cat has had difficulty with urination (going back and forth to the litter box, crying on urination, etc) or your cat is unable to urinate at all (the latter is an emergency condition). Your cat may even have begun to urinate in odd places in order to alert you to the problem. Please see this website (www.richters.com) for the posting entitled "Feline Cystitis". The information regarding diet will be especially important and a very good place to begin.
