Actually it is inflammation now, active arthritis. The radiographs show problems have occurred recently. Would you prescribe the same?
If the joint is inflamed and swollen with extra synovial fluid, then use homeopathic Apis 6C every two hours for a total of four doses. If the joint is stiff initially but improves with movement, try homeopathic Rhus toxicodendron 30C twice a day for four days. If there is only minimal relief, use the same homeopathic, but at a 200C potency once a day for one week. If the joint is worse for movement and the horse feels better when pressure is applied to the area, then use homeopathic Bryonia 30C, twice a day for four days. If, however, the joint is very hot and swollen but without increased amounts of synovial fluid, try homeopathic Belladonna 200C every two hours for four doses. In this latter scenario the horse shouls also appear excitable and more than one joint may be affected. Finally, if you feel this is a flare-up of osteoarthritis as opposed to rheumatoid arthritis, use the Rhus tox or Apis as listed above.
