Cat and Incontinence

I have a little Manx kitty (almost a year old) who is incontinent, both in urine and feces. I used to be able to keep her in a diaper but now she knows how to get out of it, so she is kept outdoors. I have brought her to the Vet and they thought she would grow out of it. I gather sometimes Manx kitties need a little babying along because of their tails being so short they could be missing nerves.

As your cat is still relatively young, you are in the fortunate position of being able to make a large impact on her future health. First off, a good, homemade diet will go a long way to providing nutrition for strong bones and muscles. Recipe resources can be found on this website (www.richters.com) under the posting "Aging Dog with Arthritis". As for the condition itself, the following is on the assumption that your cat has been thoroughly checked for urinary tract problems (infections, crystals, etc), digestive tract problems (infection, bowel conditions, etc) and that she has not been hurt or in an accident. If her incontinence is purely due to a nerve based issue, she may find help through the use of homeopathic Hypericum 30C. Give two doses a day for four days, then see if the problem abates. If it goes away but then returns, repeat the dosing. If no change occurs, you would be best off to see a qualified practitioner who works with both animals and herbs or homeopathics for a full assessment. Remember also, that a little patience goes a long way.
