Dog and Bad Breath III Answered by: Kerry Hackett Question from: Stephanie Lee Pierce Posted on: June 29, 2006
I have a 4 year old female Pomeranian dog with very bad breath. I know parsley is good for human breath issues, but will it be ok for dogs? If so, how should I give it to her or are there other herbs or natural ways to help her chronic bad breath?
Bad breath in dogs (or humans for that matter!) can be due to ongoing dental issues or digestive problems. Have your dog’s teeth recently been checked? If they are fine then the next place to begin might be changing the diet. Good resources for diet information are Richard Pitcairn’s, "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats", "The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat" by Juliette de Bairacli Levy and "The Barf Diet" by Ian Billinghurst. When a person or animal is digesting and absorbing high quality food, seldom are there concerns regarding bad breath.
