Feline Arthritis Answered by: Kerry Hackett Question from: Susan McAllister Posted on: December 17, 2006
My cat has arthritis in his lower back probably due to an old injury. Are there any herbal remedies I can give him to make him more comfortable? If so, are there any side effects that I should be aware of?
Please see the posting on this website (www.richters.com) entitiled, "Aging Dog with Arthritis" and "Dog has Stiffness in Back Legs" except the vitamin C in this case would only be 250 mg twice a day. In addition, you may find some help through the homeopathic remedies Rhus Tox 6C or Ruta graveolens 6C, once a day for ten days. If no relief is seen at that time, it would be best for your cat to be seen by a qualified practitioner who can take a full case history and provide more specific recommendations. Such a practitioner may be found through the Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association (www.vbma.org).
