| | | Bulldog with Yeast Infection in Ears Answered by: Kerry Hackett Question from: Brenda McClelland Posted on: May 01, 2007
I have a 7 year old english bulldog. She has problems with getting dry smelly ears that have a brown discharge it is not mites. I have asked the vet when I took her in and they recommended a wash but this seems to make them full of pus so I just clean them daily with baby wipes. I have used alphaolfidis (I know I spelled that wrong) but it works good for yeast. I was giving her one tablet every few days and it did seem to help but I was afraid I would give her to much. If you know of anything that would help I would be grateful. I know they are a bother to her.
Please see the postings on this website (www.richters.com) entitled, "Dog and Ear Infections", "Dog and Yeast Infection" and "Dog with Bacterial and Fungal Ear Infections". I’m wondering if you are referring to acidophilus, a form of probiotic often recommended when a human or animal has been taking antibiotics or has had severe diarrhoea. Beneficial bacteria is needed by the colon to aid in the digestive process and probiotics can replace what has been lost during the above two occasions. Acidophilus is also often recommended in yeast infections and dosing would be based on a dog’s weight.
