My cat has I guess upper respiratory allergies, eyes watering, nose congestion. He has been taking prednisone and I would like to take him off of that medication.
Did your veterinarian diagnose your cat with upper respiratory allergies and hence prescribed prednisone? If so, you should let your vet know you would like to discontinue this medicationb as there is a specific protocol in weaning him off this medication. If you choose to stop prednisone without the weaning period, your cat’s allergic symptoms may come back with a vengence, so please, speak to your vet. As for his allergies, there are a number of postings on this website (www.richters.com) that deal with this very subject. Please see: "Cat and Respiratory Allergies" and, although the next titles refer to dogs, the concept is still the same for cats: "Jack Russell and Seasonal Allergies" and "Jack Russell and Allergies".
