Dill Ready Too Soon for Pickles

Some of my dill is turning yellow, and appears to be ready to pick. Since I am nowhere near ready to do my pickles, what should I do with the dill? Can I pick it and preserve it somehow, or can it wait without the seeds falling off?
Dill works just as well when dried for pickling as when fresh. Since the seeds will shatter if the plants are fully ripe it is best if you cut off the seed heads just as they are turning yellow and dry the heads on a screen in the shade, then save in a dark dry place until ready to use. A paper bag is a good container.
