Chopped Lavender Flowers in Recipe

Hi, was wondering. I just received a recipe from my sister and it calls for 1 teaspoon chopped lavender flowers. My question is are they edible? It does say optional... but she knows how much I love lavender.

Yes, lavender flowers are edible. In fact, they are an essential flavour of the cuisine of Provence, in southern France.
