Could you please tell me a little something about Dog Rose Berry?
Dog rose is a species rose, Rosa canina. It grows wild in many temperate regions, but there are also some improved cultivars. We sell the wild form. You can grow it from seeds, although be warned that the seeds are slow to germinate and require special treatment to get to germinate.
The "berry" is properly called a "hip". Rose hips are edible and preserves made from the fresh hips are commonly sold in specialty food shops. The hips are also used to make tea; the dried or fresh hips can be steeped in boiling water for 5-10 minutes and sweetened with honey. Fresh rose hips are 20 times richer in vitamin C than oranges!
