Persistent Whitefly Problem Answered by: Conrad Richter Question from: June Pigeon Posted on: September 8, 1998
Have a problem with my balcony herb garden. White Fly how do you get rid of them for good. Have tried spray, the yellow sticky strips, soapy water and I still did not get rid of them all. Want to move the herbs inside for the winter but do not want to move the white fly inside to contaminate the indoor plants.
It is important to spray thoroughly otherwise soap spray will not work. And you have to do it often, 2-3 times a week. Dipping the plants in a pail of soap solution is very effective because all parts of the plants get covered. Swish the plant around in the soapy water for a minute or two to make sure all larvae are covered.
The key is to be consistent. If you miss a spraying, or you dod not do well enough to get soap on every bug, the problem will not go away.
