Peppermint in Peace River Region of B.C. Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Bill Smith Posted on: March 1, 1999
I would like to order a plug tray of peppermint for planting this spring as a trial for a larger planting next year. Would you expect peppermint to overwinter reasonably well in this area - Peace River of B.C., Canada? Wild mints seem to do fine. Lots of cold but lots of snow too.
Peppermint is hardy in zones 5 to 9. That means it can survive minimum winter temperatures from minus 10 to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 23 to minus 29 degrees Celsius) Since you have good snow cover the plants would survive 5 to 10 more degrees of cold.
