Hemp Agrimony Answered by: Conrad Richter Question from: Susan Gurman Posted on: March 2, 2000
I would like to grow hemp agrimony as a screen or windbreak. Could you please send me some info on this plant: how tall does it grow? Is it legal to grow without a permit? When should I begin planting? Can I start the seeds indoors and then transplant?
Hemp agrimony (Eupatorium cannabium) is a hardy perennial herb growing between 30cm and 120cm in height. It is hardy to zones 5 to 9. It is best started from seeds 6-8 weeks before outdoor planting in your area. Sow in a well-drained, sterile sowing medium.
Hemp agrimony is no relation to true hemp (Cannabis sativa). Superficially, the plant resembles the true hemp plant, but that is the connection. There is no legal restriction on growing hemp agrimony.
