Datura stramonium Germination Answered by: Conrad Richter Question from: Sandy McCutcheon Posted on: July 19, 2001
I am inquiring about how to germinate Datura stramonium. We have poor germination on our seed stock. We use datura for research purposes in our greenhouses. We are able to collect our own seed but our viability seems to be declining. I have placed an order for a fresh seed supply from your company. I am wailting for purchase approval. So, in the meantime any germinating tips would be greatly appreciated.
Stramonium (Datura stramonium) does not require any special treatment to germinate. There are no special dormancies that we are aware of. The seeds routinely germinate in a matter of days.
