Basil in a Pot Looks Weak Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Jim Juliano Posted on: February 21, 2007
I’m growing a basil in a pot, but it looks weak and not very vibrant as it should. Could there be something missing in the potting mix? I give it some "Miracle Gro" plant food occasionally, but it doesn’t seem to help. What is the blend of ingredients vital for the soil?
I suspect that your basil is not getting enough light. It needs lots of sun and good heat to do well. A well-drained fairly rich potting soil should grow great basil, if the light and heat are there as well. Also check our web-site www.richters.com under "Q&A", type in "basil" and check up on symptoms of fusarium infection. Your plant might have the early stage of it- if it is getting enough light.
