| | | Growing Wolfberry In High Temperatures Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Martin Hirschhorn Posted on: July 24, 2008
I live in South Florida, USA. Temperatures for the last few weeks have been in the 80 to 93 degree Fahrenheit (27-34 degrees Celsius) range. I recently planted in potting soil dried Wolfberry seeds (about a month ago). A number sprouted, but one in particular resulted in a very healthy 6 inch (15cm) plant.
I enjoy eating the very healthy Ningxia Wolfberry dried fruit that I receive from Young Living Company. I do know that ideal conditions for this plant is a northern environment like Utah.
I keep the plant mostly in a shaded area and it might receive a few hours of sun daily. It is watered once every 3 days.
Any suggestions as to whether the Wolfberry will survive this Florida climate and what I might do to extend its longevity?
Wolfberry can survive summers up to zone 9 which starts in central Florida. Since you are in the South I would suggest that you keep the plant in a big pot and move the pot indoors for the hottest part of the summer.
