Aphids on Orange Mint Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Matthew Posted on: May 28, 2010
I have an orange mint plant, and it appears to be covered in small green aphids, barely larger than 1 mm. Any suggestions on how to successfully get rid of these pests? So far all I have done is slowly pick off as many as I can when I have the time!
Neem oil (Richters’ catalogue #HW210) works well with aphids. Use at the rate of 2 teaspoons per liter of water and add one teaspoon of dish wash detergent or Safer’s soap concentrate as an emulsifier. The water should be quite warm to encourage the neem oil to stay a liquid. Spray throughly once a week about 3 times.
