I would like to know if you know anything about the herb Amorphophallus Konjac or Konjac Root. It was in a ad claiming to help in weight loss. I can not find any information about it. Can you help?

I don’t know anything about the medicinal uses of this plant. The University of Conneticut web page http://florawww.eeb.uconn.edu/acc_num/198500882.html says:

The main substance in konjac is called Glucomannan which has a low caloric content but is rich in dietary fiber. Clinical study indicates the Glucomannan may be responsible for weight reduction and reducing cholesterol in those who have high cholesterol. It is eaten in Japan to clean the digestive tract of toxins.
