Dog Bite Answered by: Susan Eagles Question from: Rose Posted on: April 18, 2000
Do you have any advice for me to tell my friend? She was biten by a Rotweiler dog this past Sunday. Didn’t go see a doctor. Now it’s all infected and swollen and red. I suggested she put charcoal on it. Will this work for her? How often should she change it?
Your friend must go a doctor or hospital immediately. Your friend could have contracted rabies, and there is no treatment, herbal or otherwise, for it. Rabies infection travels to the brain, causing convulsions. The rabies virus can lay dormant for up to a year before symptoms appear. Tetanus is another serious infection that can be caused by a dog bite.
