My 11 year old son is studying the medieval times. The students had to choose a subject. My son chose herbs. Since I am not familiar with herbs. I am lost in this subject let alone how herbs were used duing those times. Any assistance or reference would be a great help. he has to present it in a poster form in class.

There are several books you could consult. From our catalogue we have John Gerard’s "The Herbal" from the 16th century. This is not the medieval period, but a lot of the information in the book reflects European herbal knowledge from the medieval period. There is also the "Master Book of Herbalism" and "A Druid’s Herbal" that draw heavily on the medieval period. All of these are found in our online catalogue, or you can check your local library.

There is also the classic herbal links in the "Richters InfoCentre" section of our website http://www.richters.com/show.cgi?page=./InfoSheets.html.
