Could you please tell me a little about red clover? Is it good for PMS or menopause? What is it good for? Also, does it effect a individual menstrual cycle?

Red clover contains a good balance of plant estrogens and has been found to exhibit progesterone activity as well, making it a balanced herb for PMS and menopause, when hormone imbalance causes symptoms. It should be used with liver supportive herbs like dandelion root to promote the excretion of excess estrogenic compound. See other herbal remedies for holistic support of PMS and menopause on our website www.richters.com. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "PMS" or "menopause" for the search.

There is a potential of blood thinning when using red clover, so it should not be used in menstrual flooding. Otherwise, it should promote a normal menstrual cycle.

Alan Tillotson, in "The One Earth Herbal Sourcebook", says that much of the red clover in capsule form or dried brown blossoms is inert. The dried red clover flowers should be purple. [Richters dried clover blossoms are purple -- ed.]
