What herbs can be safely used for babies and the usual childhood ailments, colds etc.?

If you are breast feeding, many herbs can be administered through your breast milk for the baby. For colds herbs like echinacea or garlic can be taken by you which will then be passed on to your baby through your milk. For digestive upsets, herbs like chamomile or dandelion can be taken by you. For restless sleep, herbs like catnip or valerian would be good.

There are a number of excellent books on herbs for babies. One such excellent book Richter’s sell is a "Family Herbal" by Rosemary Gladstar and can be found at:

Other good children’s books are Mary Bove’s "Encyclopedia of Natural Healing for Children and Infants" and Aviva Romm’s "Naturally Healthy Babies and Children".
