What Happened to Mammoth Basil?

I used to buy your Mammoth basil and really loved it often giving it as gifts to friends. I don’t see it in the catalogue any more. What happened...?

We loved it too, until the variety deteriorated and we were no longer able to get the true form. Seeds called "Mammoth" are still being produced but the leaves are no longer the huge wavy leaves that we have come to expect. Instead seeds labelled "Mammoth" has become more like a Genovese basil.

Sorry!

We will continue to look for seeds that conform to the classic ‘Mammoth’ variety, as we would dearly like to have it back.
